Photo/MIKE MALONEY In what would prove to be two totally mismatched teams, the ODSS Junior Bears basketball team was mauled by a score of 95-17 at the hands of the Centennial Spartans in District 10 action on Tuesday.

Centennial gave an early demonstration of what was in store for the Bears when they notched their first hoop right after winning the opening jump off.

Parmivir Sohel was quick to answer back for the Bears but the 2-2 tie would be the closest Orangeville would get for the remainder of the game.

A much bigger, faster and more experienced Spartans wasted no time in starting to run up the score.

Sohel and Ben Smith would each find the basket once while Paul Levesque added a pair of singles to end the first quarter down 30-9.

In the second, Centennial looked like they were out to steamroll the Bears.

Smith would notch another pair of singles before the half but that was all the scoring Orangeville could muster and went into the break down 53-11.

To their credit, Orangeville came out firing off the top of the third quarter controlling the ball well through the opening few minutes. Centennial though was not about to have anything to do with a Bear rally and again soon found themselves dropping shots almost at will.

Smith added another point off a foul for ODSS while Sohel made no mistake driving to the basket after Dustin Caravello found him deep for another two, ending the third at 69-14.

Sohel grabbed a rebound to notch the lone Orangeville points off the top of the final frame.

While some teams would have laid low from this point on, Centennial continued to run the score till the final buzzer, defeating Orangeville 9517

In the second game the Bears seniors fared only marginally better, coming up short of the Spartans by a score of 59-14.
