Hello from the Oaks. Our month started off with a bus trip to Orangeville for residents wishing to do some Christmas Shopping. Residents who have been on the Bus tell me it rides smoothly; more space and the large windows make the views much easier to see from either side of the Bus. We also have a very busy month with Christmas Activities through out December. Friday the 2nd “Sing along with Audrey” was held in the Fireside Lounge at 2:00 p.m. with residents singing many Christmas Carols. A wonderful way to start off the Christmas Season.

Birthdays for December are: Harry Stafford, Vera Norris, James Hanna, Mary Leeson, Annie Graham, William Redmond, Alan Zinn, Leta Petersen, Juanita Millward, Gordon Brayford, John Peacock, Tina Knude, Joy Ives, Colleen Wright, Margaret Francis and Heinz-Dieter Muller.

All our games for the month will be about Christmas (eg. Christmas Concentration) and are held in the different Activation rooms on each floor. The Sparks and Brownies from Grand Valley were here on Monday the 5th. Residents enjoyed the children singing and acting out the Christmas Songs, especially “Old Rudolf”. Residents had their pictures taken with St. Nick on Tuesday the 6th in the Fireside Lounge. On Saturday the 10th Pam’s Music Students arrived at 1:30 to 3:30 for their Christmas Concert Presentation. We are privileged to watch the children and young adults sharing their many talents with us. Family and Friends are welcome to join the residents for a fun filled afternoon. Tuesday the 13th the Visiting Therapy Dogs went to all home areas during the morning where they are welcomed by many residents who enjoy petting them. Then at 2:00 p.m. the Red Hat Society held a Tea in the third floor activation room. The Country Jamboree groups who come once a month were here on the 14th at 2:00 p.m. with hand clapping, foot tapping music. Our Annual Christmas Concert is on December 15th at 2:00 p.m. in the Auditorium. Once again we would appreciate family and friends help to bring residents to the Concert. The Kinsmen club will be here once again on Saturday the 17th for residents who wish to phone a family member or friend any where in the world at no cost to the resident. We appreciate your time and generosity, thank you for a very special Christmas Present.

On Sunday the 18th at 6:00 p.m. in the Fireside Lounge the Bethel Bible Chapel group will be entertaining us with Christmas Carols.

New resident joining the Oaks Family is: Mabel Andrew

On Monday the 19th at 2:00 p.m. David Lamble (Tenor) and Pam Claridge (Pianist) are entertaining residents in the Fireside Lounge. This is one hour of music rhapsody! The Girl Guides are Caroling in the Fireside Lounge on Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m. On Wednesday the Smith Singers will be on second floor North Lounge at 3:00 p.m. Residents are looking forward to the Candlelight Service on December 22nd at 2:00p.m. which will be held in the Chapel at the Mel Lloyd Center. At 9:30 a.m. on Friday morning Santa and his Elves will be visiting door to door on all floors bringing Christmas cheer to all residents. Our month ends with a New Years Social from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Activation Room on third floor. We residents would also like to send a special thank you to each one of the entertainers who so generously give their time and their talents free of charge! Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and a Healthy, Happy New Year!
