‘Why have we not learned?’
The senseless murder of fifteen year old Jane Creba on Yonge St. by random gunfire last Boxing Day has sickened everyone. The brutal end to this young girl, in the bloom of her life, speaks to the descent of this city from the once stigma of “Toronto the Good” to the now, “Toronto the Hood.
These roaming gangs of worthless brutes deserve no quarter and the police should authorize to fight fire with fire. These creatures are the product of cultures of violence transported to this country to play a political game of social engineering. Such experiments have been tried in numerous developed countries and have failed miserably. Australia, England, France and Germany. Why have we not learned?
The perpetrators of these violent acts are fearless; they have no fear of the police or of prison. (Prison today being more of a vacation than a punishment) They are careless about their own lives and have no regard for of others. The possession of a deadly weapon, and the use of that weapon, gives to the individual what equates to the gang’s concept of manhood. The bigger the gun, the greater their stature in the culture to which they belong.
The population of Toronto is currently about 2.5 million. The federal government has in place an immigration target designed to bring into Canada over 300,000 new immigrants yearly. Most of these will be drawn from the Third World and most will gravitate to Toronto bringing the population close to four million by 2010. What then will be the crime rate?
This social engineering experiment began with Pierre Trudeau in the late sixties and early seventies when he and his friend at the London School of Economics, Pindling, the prime minister of Jamaica, conspired to ease the growing population of that country by exporting them to Canada. Thousands poured into Canada every night and were deposited in Toronto. Among these were some criminal types who were not identified and screened out. Now we reap the consequences of that predictable policy failure. The federal government must assume the responsibility for what has become unacceptable.
For the person(s) out there who will write to the paper to
Better judgement condemn this messenger as “racist” they are referred to the publication Opinion magazine and an article written by Allan Stagg back in the seventies.
The politicians, all bleating about this horror and methods of its resolution, all are too weak to say the words that are politically unacceptable. They want to ban handguns totally so that law abiding owners are criminalized. Banning will only make illegal trafficking more profitable and not one gang member will be without the essential tool of his trade.
More policing will increase the cost of living but not make a dent in the gun violence that has to be brought under control.
The only way to control this threat to our society is to infiltrate these gangs, identify the Alpha Males that head the gangs and sentence them to hard time in a facility that does not offer the luxuries so many enjoy today. The government must also tighten up the immigration procedures and improve the screening filter to ensure total exclusion of criminals and those without the necessary education and skills to integrate successfully into the Canadian social structure. We did not build this country to have it crushed by crime and violence.
