Hayward’s ‘good rant’ exposed

Re: Letter, “Why have we not learned?” January 5, 2006

I see Ken Hayward is at it again, not letting facts get in the way of a good rant.

I guess, for those of use who didn’t get the point of his previous ravings on who is to blame for the spate of recent violence in Toronto, (I wonder what he really meant by calling a “spade a spade”) he invokes the ghosts of two bogeymen: Pierre Trudeau and his classmate at LSE — which means he is obviously a communist fellow traveler — the mysterious no-first-name Jamaican Prime Minister “Pindling.”

Well, I got news for you, Ken. “Pindling” was never the Prime Minister of Jamaica so I fail to see how he could have plotted with Trudeau in a great “social engineering” experiment to have “thousands” of lawless Jamaicans “pour across the border every night” to torment the fine citizens of Canada.

I should point out that Sir Lyndon Pindling was the Prime Minister of the Bahamas while it was a British colony in 1967 through independence in 1973 until 1992. Ken, the Bahamas and Jamaica are not the same countries!

I can appreciate your confusion as most Jamaicans and Bahamanians are of African origin, but that doesn’t make them the same.

Unlike Mr. Hayward who obviously has sources unknown to ordinary citizens, I have heard nothing of Sir Lyndon plotting to transport 747’s full of Jamaicans past his beautiful islands northward to invade Canada by the thousands each night.

I would also like to point out to Mr. Hayward that the country he chooses to vilify, through innuendo, hyperbole and gross simplification, Jamaica, is not a homogenous pool of ganja smoking, rum swilling, reggae loving, gun toting, gangsters. Jamaicans are Black, White, Chinese, East Indian, Lebanese. In fact, like Canadians, come from a diversity of origins.

Who knows, Ken, you may have actually talked to one and never known it!

Despite your assertion that some person would write the paper and condemn you as a racist I would never do so. You are obviously a bitter person with too much time on your hands. Perhaps you should get away from your computer and off the right wing conspiracy web sties for awhile, take a nice Caribbean vacation and chill out.
