Hallmark Flyers are champs

2006-04-13 / Sports

The Hallmark Toyota Novice AA Flyers ended their season on March 27th with a championship in their pockets. After failing to advance past Oakville in the OMHA playoffs the Flyers began preparing for the TriCounty Playoff series.

The team played a great round-robin series against teams from Flamborough, Milton, Guelph and Burlington. They finished the series with a record of 5-1-0, placing them in first overall and matching them with Burlington Eagles for the finals.

Orangeville hosted Burlington for game one of a best-of-three series. The Flyers played a fast, physical game and came out on top with a score of 2-1.

Game 2 saw the Flyers meet a strong Burlington squad on their home ice. The Eagles were determined not to see their season ended early. This very exciting match ended with an Eagles goal in overtime, tying the series at one game a piece.

The championship game took place at home with the boys pumped to play. A large crowd came to Alder Red to cheer the team on.

Burlington played a tough game but the Flyers

were not to go away in second place and at the end of the game were ahead 3-2. A great way to end the season!

The coaching staff of Hallmark Toyota Novice Flyers would like to congratulate the team on their outstanding season and thank the players' families for their great support.
