The Vantastic Slam
It will be two years this August since Mike Van Tastic stepped through the ropes for the last time right here in Orangeville. For those who remember, I ended up with a busted up ankle which all but was the proverbial nail in my wrestling carrier coffin.
Since then I have gotten married and have settled into a semi-normal life, working and raising a very busy family.
Although I am proud of my accomplishments during my time in the business winning two championships and making history with a Russian Roulette staple gun match that to this day people still talk to me about, I have always wanted to truly end my time in the business on my terms.
I hope that day may still come, but in the mean time I have been looking for a protg to teach and mold into perhaps the next big thing in the business.
Like finding love when you are not looking for it, I have found my new project while on a casual drive through the countryside. He caught my eye while driving along a fence line.
He was pulling out s t u m p s from trees on his modest farm in C l i f f o r d , O n t a r i o . He stands a towering seven feet tall and weighs in at over 360 pounds.
We have started working on holds and some of the psychology of the business, and my hopes are that RINGWARS promoter Chris Drury can find a man brave enough or tough enough to face him.
The ball is in your court, Mr. Drury.
I would also like to congratulate Jim and Anne, a local couple who won themselves a BBQ in the Role up the Rim promotion from Tim Hortons.
