The two school boards serving Dufferin are both celebrating Education Week next week.

The theme selected by the Upper Grand District School Board is Learning - A Lifelong Journey.

A board media release says Ontario's Ministry of Education has designated the week to "celebrate accomplishments and reflect on new and exciting challenges ahead."

Locally, the week will be launched in conjunction with the official opening of Island Lake Public School in Orangeville Monday night at 7.

Bookmarks are being produced in a partnership between the Upper Grand and and Wellington Catholic boards, decorated by elementary school children.

D u f f e r i n P e e l Catholic District School Board's theme this year, And God saw that it was good! is described by board chairman Peter Ferreira as "intended to emphasize the commitment to help students cultivate an appreciation for God's gifts of creation and to develop a deep sense of moral purpose in fulfilling humanity's responsibility as stewards of creation."

A host of activities have been scheduled by both boards and individual schools will be observing the week with various activities.

Events such as concerts, plays, art displays and student dances are planned in various schools.

You should contact your local school for a complete list of activities.
