Theatre has new children's choir

2006-05-18 / Local News

Due to the overwhelming number of children who want to participate in the junior and senior choirs at Theatre Orangeville, the theatre has decided to introduce another choir, Wind-Up TOYS (Theatre Orangeville Youth Singers).

Currently there are over 80 children between eight and 16 who sing in either the junior or senior choirs of TOYS.

So this year they decided to add Wind-Up TOYS, which is more like a training choir.

"It's a group of energetic kids who want to be part of a group," said TOYS choir director Joan Borden.

This new choir was formed to give more children

the opportunity to join and sing, because they had already reached the limit of their junior choir.

The choir will be singing from September to May and performing in all four shows of the season.

To join one of these choirs you can call Theatre Orangeville (9429321) where your name will be put on a list and you will then need to audition.

Ms. Borden said the children are taught a lot of lessons in singing and choreography.

"The goal of Wind-Up TOYS is to give kids a chance to learn vocal techniques and performance skills," she said.
