Hats off to hospital
Hats off to Headwaters Shelburne! In the past week, every time I visit the hospital in Shelburne, the carved angel at the entrance to the parking lot says a thousand words. To me personally, it makes me feel proud to be a resident of the Shelburne area and it reminds me of my grandmother. My grandma, Evelyn Myers, was a nurse at this facility for many years until her retirement.
The angel may have many meanings, but to me it is a symbol of all the caring and kind nurses who dedicate their time being there for others.
They are guardians to all the people who frequent their facility, helping, guiding, loving and caring for all, giving them the dignity they need to get healthy or the respect some may need to die in a place as close to home as they can be.
My grandma was once one of these angels, she dedicated her life to the well-being of others and now the nurses in Headwaters Shelburne are giving back to her.
Thank you to the gentleman who carved the beautiful sculpture and to the others who supported it.
The dictionary says that an angel is an immortal being attendant upon God; a very kind and lovable person; a helping and guiding spirit. The carved angel represents all the caregivers in this hospital, past and present, all the patients and their families. But, most of all for me, it symbolizes my grandma because she has all the characteristics of an angel and then some!
