Royal Canadian Legion News

BY JILL BROYDEN Branch 233, Orangeville

With another successful Canada Day party over, Branch 233 is busy with last-minute preparations for its fun-filled Founder's Weekend events.

On Friday, we kick off the weekend with a barbeque. Members and their guests will have a choice of chicken or beef served with a baked potato and salad for $4.00 from 5 pm until 7. Take out will be available.

At 6 pm entertainer Darren Carr is in the spotlight until 10. Saturday morning we start flipping pancakes from 9 am until 11 and at 12 Noon we fire up the grill and open the beer garden.

There's something for everyone at the Legion this Founder's Day. Face painting by Heide and Karaoke, compliments of Music Talks are only two of the fun things in store for the kids. We suspect our Dunk Tank Event will be the hit of the day when some cream of the crop leaders try to dodge the ball to avoid taking the plunge. Come on out and give it your best shot! In the evening, beginning at 9 p.m. until 12 midnight, we have a 50's and 60's dance happening.

All in all its a big family outing for very little cost.

About 270 people enjoyed a delicious pancake and sausage breakfast on Canada Day. It was a beautiful day and we hope everyone had a terrific long weekend.

Don't forget, it will soon be time for Fiddleville once again. Our next meeting to co-ordinate every-thing is schedule for Thurs. July 20th at 7 p.m.

All volunteers are needed and much appreciated.

This weekend, we hold the Branch Golf Day. Golfing and Dinner is $35.00, or you can just enjoy the dinner for only $10.00. The dinner is steak, baked potato and rolls. Participants are to bring pot luck salad or dessert. You must be registered by Friday, July 7th. The event is on Sunday, the 9th tee off time of 9 a.m. Everyone welcome hope to see you there. Until next time, yours in comradeship.

Lest We Forget!
