A young woman was attacked in the Dawson Road Townline area on Sunday night.

An 18-year-old was walking on Townline when she was grabbed by a passing male who proceeded to push her to the ground in the tall grass beside the roadway.

Two witnesses responded to the victim's screams as she struggled to break free from her assailant. When she broke free, the attacker fled to a nearby vehicle and drove away.

When police responded to a call at around 10:30 p.m., the victim and witnesses were able to give a detailed description of both the male and the vehicle. A short time later police stopped a vehicle matching the description.

As a result of the investigation, police arrested Douglas Stephen Marshall, 29, of Orangeville, on charges of assault and forcible confinement. Anyone having information with regard to this incident is asked to call the Orangeville Police Service at 519-9412522.
