Rehab Connections bridging the gap

There is a new service in Orangeville that is intended to go beyond the traditional treatments of physiotherapy.

It's called Post-Rehab Connections and is located on the second floor of the Acts Fitness building, on Highway 9.

Kerry Branniff, a postrehab director at Acts Fitness, is sharing space with Dr. Steven Chiu, a chiropractor and clinic director for Rehab Connections and together they are offering a "onestop" location for a variety of needs.

Dr. Chiu, relocated his practice from Broadway to Acts because he was looking for a location to incorporate a level of fitness to complement the traditional chiropractic services. Additionally he uses laser therapy and Trigenics, a treatment that promotes the instant relief of pain, acceleration of healing and muscle strengthening.

As the post-rehab director, Kerry Branniff works with clients to create exercise and conditioning routines. She typically sees patients after they have completed physiotherapy and are still in need of help.

"Physio takes them to a certain level," she said. "I offer them a more extensive rehabilitation."

Each client's needs are unique and it depends what the injury is and limitations.

Ms. Brannif consults with clients to determine how best to help them and then create a program.

"It can be best described as bridging the gap between what you could do before an accident and what you can do now."

Rehab Connections is planning an official opening ceremony sometime, but they are open for business and a new raw-food bar is currently under construction.
