County bridge contract $761,000 over budget
     Dufferin County Council has awarded the contract to replace Black's Bridge on County Road 25 (formerly Highway 25) at a cost about $215,000 more than the lowest bid, based on the lowest bidder's having faxed a bid bond instead of sending the original document along with the tender.

     IN CELEBRATION of Make Someone Smile Week (June 16 22) Parsons' Florists created 168 smiley face bouquets for residents. Here Hazel Keating, a staff member at the Avalon Retirement Centre surprises Dolly Walton with one of the bouquets. Parsons' made deliveries to the Bethsaida Retirement Home, Family Transition Place and individual residents on Tuesday and Wednesday. The Village Green, located in Erin, and French's Flowers, located in Shelburne, delivered bouquets to Dufferin Oaks, Shelburne Residence and local police.

     Rev. John Morley is the new minister at the Riverside Pentecostal Assembly in Grand Valley. He started his new role July 9, after relocating from Dryden where he had been the senior pastor at the church for about three years. Prior to that he was the assistant minister in Elmira for 1.5 years.
