Over the course of three hours, construction crews installed the roof on the new Grand Valley ambulance station. A spectacular roof raising took place in Grand Valley on Tuesday, July 11. The roof was pre-assembled

and placed on the new ambulance station in one piece. A number of residents were on hand to

witness Grand Valley Crane place the roof on the building. The job took about three hours.

The building is being constructed by Jamieson Construction of Shelburne and being project managed by Michael Giles, Dufferin County's Chief Building Official.

County council, recognizing the need for enhanced service, approved a permanent location for the land ambulance in Grand Valley in the 2005 Budget. The new location will provide better access to paramedic and emergency medical service to the western part of the County.

The new station is located on Main Street in Grand Valley beside the Public Works Shop.

"We think it's an excellent location and we look forward to serving the residents of Grand Valley better," said Tom Reid, director of paramedic and emergency medical services.

Construction is due to be completed in October.
