Dufferin has two new doctors
The Greater Dufferin Physicians Search Committee has succeeded in attracting two new doctors - a married couple - to Orangeville, but it wasn't that hard to sell them on the town.
Doctors Stephen and Stephanie Milone were first enticed by the location when they completed some of their residency at the Headwaters Health Care Centre.
"It's a very nice community," says Dr. Milone. "We really like the location, it's close to our family too."
He went on to explain the couple had enjoyed the community while they worked a rotation of their residency at the hospital and k e p t Orangeville on their short list of possible locations to settle.
"It's a really nice place and we are excited about being here," he said.
The couple will set up practice in the Highlands Health Clinic, located opposite the hospital, and together will be able to see about 11,000 patients.
In a press release issued by the hospital, Bob Baynham, president of Headwaters Healthcare Centre said Headwaters "is very excited that the residents of Dufferin will benefit from the care of these physicians."
Both doctors received their MD from the University of Toronto in 2002 and completed a postgraduate residency in family medicine at Queen's University.
Besides a family practice, Dr. Stephanie LopesMilone will work in the Emergency Department and Dr. Stephen Milone will work in anesthesia at the hospital.
According to the physicians search committee, who now have successfully
recruited six doctors, the area is still under-serviced by 13 physicians.
