Orangeville Lions member Fred Giles and Club President Roy Bryan recently recognized Mark Gibson by presenting him with a Helen Keller Fellowship.

A Helen Keller Fellowship is a Multiple District "A" Lions Clubs International award to honour Lions members or citizens in the community who have stood out in demonstrating the Lions creed of providing service to others.

Mark, a former member of the Orangeville Lions Club, has been involved in numerous capacities within the local community and the Lions Club. An example of his involvement included acting as a mentor and adviser on behalf of the club when it sponsored formation of the Amaranth Lions Club.

Mark has also been involved in many committees and activities, including chairing the Lions 25th annual Lobsterfest.

Helen Keller was a major contributor and motivator to Lions activities and in 1925 challenged Lions worldwide to become "Knights of the blind and those with hearing impairments". As a permanent recognition of Mark's contributions, the Orangeville Lions Club also made a financial donation to the Lions Home for Deaf People.
