Province boosts Mono OSTAR funding

The Town of Mono has received a 17.4 per cent increase in Ontario Small Town and Rural (OSTAR) infrastructure funding.

The announcement was made by Minister of Agriculture Food and Rural Affairs Leona Dombrowsky, who said the increase was given due to cost increases for "in lieu projects" from 2000 to 2005. That project for Mono was in relation to new water connections in Purple Hill.

The increase for fundable expenditures is $150,150.51, of which the Province's share is $50,055.18.

A letter from Treasurer Les Halucha presented to Mono Council said the additional funding will be used to offset an existing waterworks deficit.
