It's a good thing Frankie CheslerOrtiz and her husband Juan weren't competing in the same division this past weekend at the Fox Run Summer's End Jumper Show, as they both love to win.

In the series sponsored by Dutch Masters, the Sher-Al Farm family swept top placings in both the Five Year Old and Six Year Old Young Horse Development Divisions.

In the Five Year Old Division, Ortiz, aboard his Canadian Hanoverian Sport Horse, For Rosas Pleasure, captured first place against 15 others with a brilliant score of 92.

The class consisted of one round, judged 50% on the horse's style and 50% on its overall performance.

"I have been so proud of For Rosas Pleasure these last few weeks," Ortiz said. "She's a smart and talented mare that I think will continue to impress me for years to come."

Ortiz recently purchased For Rosas Pleasure from Grande Farms, an Orangeville area breeding facility owned and operated by former NHL Hall of Famer Dale Hawerchuck and his wife Crystal.

In the Six Year Old Division, Frankie Chesler-Ortiz partnered with Aslan, her Dutch Warm blood gelding, swept the class with speed and accuracy. This division consists of a first round and then a jump-off round testing the horse's speed, scope and carefulness.

In the first round of action, only four managed to navigate the course clear to advance to the jump-off. Frankie Chesler-Ortiz was third to try her hand at it, and posted a blistering fast time with not a single rail touched. Frankie won this competition five years ago with her then six-year-old VDL Nuit de Pomme, who has gone on to win many top placings at the top end of this sport.

"This series is so important within the industry," she said. "It allows these younger horses to compete against their own age group and competition level, allowing for growth and progress throughout the series."

Next weekend, at the Halton Place Horse Show, riders will converge in the picturesque Halton Hills where they will try for top prize at the $75,000 FEI World Cup as well as the Young Horse Development Series.

Next it will be on to the Tournament of Champions in Palgrave, where the Young Horse Development Series finale will take place along with the $25,000 AMJ Campbell Speed Derby, $50,000 World Cup Qualifier and the $100,000 Canada Cup Final.
