Road Watch Neighborhood Watch Citizens on Patrol 911 Emergencies

Now that we are into fall and our meetings are starting again, on my desk are the reports from O.P.P. Dufferin and I see that, as usual, road crashes are up during the summer months but there has been a marked drop in the number of incidents on Airport road which we hope has been helped by our efforts and especially by our new sign just north of Mono Mills.

I do a considerable amount of driving in our local area and it seems to me that one of the problems that contribute to road crashes is that everyone is in such a hurry.

Passing in dangerous areas is rampant and the few seconds saved are not worth the risks. You may not kill yourself but another unsuspecting driver coming towards you.

Leave yourself more time and go with the flow.We constantly hear of cars passing on hills and curves; the solid yellow lines are there for a reason. Is it not better to get there safely than not at all?!

Road Watch - We have just ordered a new supply of Road Watch signs and some of these will be used to replace faded or missing ( yes, it happens!) signs and some new ones will go up.Watch for them when you drive in Mono. Below is a list of our drop boxes and pickup stations for forms.

Mono Plaza, O.P.P. Shelburne, Pete's Donuts, Mono Mills, Hallmark Toyota, Orangeville, Mono Center Community Hall, Mono Municipal Office.

Forms only at MADD Dufferin, Broadway, Orangeville, and Wellington Dufferin Guelph Health Unit.

Safety Tip- Driver Seating -Position your seat sop that your sternum is no less than 25 cm. (10 inches) from the steering wheel. Do not tilt steering where up but do hold the wheel at the 9 and 3 o'clock position to reduce possibility of hand, wrist, or arm injury should the airbag implode.
