Developer seeks focus group participants

A developer who will be building a subdivision in northwest Orangeville has joined forces with a market research company to host a focus group.

The subdivision will be built in two phases in the Hansen Boulevard, Amelia Street area, and will consist of two distinct types of homes.

The first phase will have of about 78 attached singles and 51 townhomes. The second phase will resemble the first.

The two phases will be geared toward older people looking to downsize or younger people looking at their first home.

It will be the first subdivision built in Orangeville by CountryGreen Homes. Kim Slessor, the firm's

sales and marketing manager, said that since this will be their first development in Orangeville they want to be sure they are building homes that potential buyers want.

"We're looking to create a community that everyone wants," she said.

Llyod Martin, from Trimart, said a practice the company uses frequently to gather input, after they have created rough architectural renderings and a site plan, is to receive the public's input as to what they would like to see in the homes.

This usually includes what type of exterior they want on the home, such as brick or aluminum siding, how many bedrooms they would like and how they want the inside designed, amongst other items.

Ms. Martin said they're looking for a limit of 20 couples or the equivalent of 40 people. If enough interest is generated they may hold a second session.

"This is one of the most exciting new developments to hit Orangeville in a long time because of its proximity to amenities," said Ms. Martin.

Those amenities include the Orangeville Mall and other shopping plazas along First Street and the easy access to Highway 10.

This focus group is set for Nov. 7 at 7 p.m. at the Alder Street Recreation Centre.
