In response to Mr. L. Rankin's remarks in the Tuesday October 10, 2006 Banner I have the follow comments.

Mr. Garisto was on the Accessibility Committee, but at the County level, not Municipal level.

As to Mr. Rankin's other comments, I take the optimistic approach say that Mr. Garisto's campaign for a zero percent tax increase can be achieved with a comprehensive and viable plan of action.

Of course a majority of support of council is required, but I believe with the right plan, it will work.

Now is the time for voters to carefully consider which of the candidates will support this type of endeavor, for if the voters choose the wrong candidates who are against a zero tax increase then we will continue to pay ever increasing taxes, this time for 4 years until the next municipal election.

I'm sure Mr. Garisto has developed a concrete plan of action however, who, during an election campaign, reveals their campaign strategy for achieving their goals.

From what I've seen in advertisements and candidate flyers, a few of the candidates have already jumped on the bandwagon and have copied many of the ideas and goals that Mr. Garisto hopes to achieve.

Of course there will be tough decisions to be made to achieve a zero percent budget.

No one is questioning that.

The real question is how many candidates are prepared to make the cuts and changes necessary to achieve a zero percent tax

increase knowing that there will always be some repercussions from this type of action plan.
