Photo/MIKE MALONEY Last weekend it was back to back wins for the Orangeville Crushers. This week it's back to the drawing board after the Crushers went 0 for 3 in Ontario Provincial Junior A action over the past weekend.

Starting off against Stouffville, Orangeville failed to execute their game from the opening face-off and soon found themselves down 3-0 before Jeremy Wick teamed up with Nicholas Vassos at the 12:43 mark of the first to put the Crushers on the board.

Another from Stouffville late in the first and a pair through the second set the Spirit firmly in control heading into the third where the teams swapped goals, Orangeville's coming from Vassos, to end the game at 7- 2 in favour of the Spirit.

Home Saturday hosting Aurora, the Crushers put together a better effort through the first 40 minutes of play, taking a slim 2-1 lead into the third on goals from Wick and Jon Cristini.

Again the team's lack of experience saw them sit back on their heels and just try to protect the lead, something that coach Steve Chelios is quick to point out you can't do against a team like Aurora.

Sensing an opportunity, the Tigers turned on the heat through the final 20 minutes, scoring three unanswered goals to head back home with a 4-2 win.

Sunday afternoon saw the team in Newmarket against the Hurricanes with a chance to salvage two points for their efforts.

Again, like Thursday in Stouffville, Orangeville failed to play the fast physical game they need to ensure success.

Newmarket drew first blood on a shorthanded effort early in the first but Nick Ciampini would even things up two minutes later.

Cristini found himself out alone early in the second, flipping one in on the short side for a short lived Orangeville lead.

A minute later, Newmarket would score their first of three unanswered goals before Wick would notch his third in three games, midway through the third.

Unphased, the Hurricanes continued to control the play with another pair including an empty netter with just over a minute to play, sealing off the score sheet and doubling up over the Crushers 6-3.

Chelios makes no excuses for the results. Citing the lacklustre performance over the last few games says changes are going to have to be made.

"We have a good bunch of kids with a good chemistry but I have a job to do here. We have given an opportunity to all our players but it's time for them all to start playing our system and playing as a team. Now we need to make some changes if we are going to achieve success."

Still lacking experienced leadership, the team has made a number of player moves.

In addition to the acquisition of Louis D'Avino last week, they traded Brett Munroe to Collingwood over the weekend for Kriss Velss, "a big tough '87 that plays both forward and defence" while continuing work on a number of other player deals.

This weekend, the schedule will be a bit lighter for the Crushers.

Friday it will be on the bus for a trip to Muskoka and a rematch against the Huntsville Otters.

Saturday night sees the Blues make the journey to Orangeville from Collingwood for a 7:30 pairing with the Crushers at the Alder Street Community Centre.
