Santa set to parade Saturday

Every year at this time, Jolly Old Saint Nick parades around the streets of Orangeville, letting each family gander at the amazing fellow who brings each child, father and mother presents each year.

If you as a family or even you and your friends enjoy the atmosphere of having a white, Merry Christmas, the Santa Claus Parade this Saturday afternoon is something for you and your friends or family to attend.

There'll be a variety of different floats, a number of bands playing and the Orangeville Kinettes collecting non-perishable food items along the parade route. These items will go to the Orangeville Food Bank.

The confirmed bands for the parade are: Unity Flute & Drum Corps, Bando Filipino,

Kempenfelt Pipes & Drums, Uncle Heavys Pork Chop Revue, Mississauga, Firefighters Pipes & Drums and the Shelburne 164th Squadron Air Cadets, all of which should deliver a fascinating performance.

The 2006 Orangeville Santa Claus Parade Route has its staging area at the corner of Hansen Blvd. and First Street. It goes south on First St. takes a left at Broadway, then another left on Fourth Street and then another left to Rotary Park and heads back to First St.

So, with the temperature expected to hover near zero, make sure to put that early winter clothing on the children, get ready to see good old St. Nick and head to the parade, which starts at 2 p.m. and is expected to run until about 4 p.m.
