The Vantastic Slam Some sad news to start this weeks Slam. It was reported this week that WWE Hall of Famer, Rowdy Roddy Piper has been diagnosed with a cancerous tumour on a disc in his spine and Lymphoma. The 52 year old Piper returned home two weeks ago from a WWE tour of Europe complaining of back pain. He is scheduled to begin treatment immediately. I have to speak my mind this week regarding the recent vandalism involving the new fountain island on Broadway. Not once, but twice in one week the newly finished water wheel was the focus of a soaping. What did the powers that be think was going to happen? Did not one person think of shutting of the fountain d u r i n g the night? Orangeville is becoming known as a place for pranksters and vandals. I must agree with those on the local BIA and their idea of putting camera's in the downtown core. Not only will it divert the vandalism, but also have an eye in the sky for any other incidents that may occur. While they are at it, perhaps they should put camera's in the back alley North of Broadway, but wait I forgot, we are not to speak of the under belly of our lovely little town. Hopefully this new town council can do something about these "dark" places in town. While they are working on this they had better put a Moose crossing sign on the centre island due to all the greenery. AROUND THE RING... Jim Ross has signed a new one year deal with the WWE... Rumoured match for Wrestlemania is Batista vs The Undertaker in a WWE title vs Wrestlemania streak match... Sabu is apparently in hot water with WWE management. He has been showing up late for shows and his over all attitude has not been very good... Reports are saying that wrestlers in Deep South Wrestling will be fined $500 dollars for breaking Kayfabe... Talks between the WWE and MMA star Bob Sapp have apparently broken off... JBL is telling friends that he wants to return to the ring in early 2007... Former TNA star Monty Brown has signed a new deal with the WWE... The Hardy Boyz are expected to stay together as a tag team for a while... Candice Michelle suffered a deviated septum during the women's battle royal this past Monday on Raw. She will undergo surgery to repair the injury this week... The WWE is toying with the idea of running Raw on a more edgy side much like back in the 1990's and run Smackdown more like the 1980's wrestling. CRUSHERS CORNER... The Orangeville Crushers have been busy this week making moves to improve the team. This week they traded forward Kevin Tuckey to Brampton, Defenceman Reilly Miller went to the North Bay Sky Hawks, and Mark Schiraldi was dealt to Ajax. They also picked up goaltender Matt Kinsella from Collingwood, Defenceman Grant Burke from Vaughn and forward Adam Dipede from Toronto. It also appears that assistant coach Craig Teeple has been removed and replaced with Ed Gaffney as assistant coach. The Crushers next home game is this Friday night against Ajax and again Saturday night at home vs the rugged Huntsville Otters, always a rough game vs Huntsville. Both games start at 7:30pm at the Alder Street Arena. |
