Bantam AA Flyers on roll
Photo/MIKE MALONEY CHAD BOULTON lead off the scoring for Shelburne in the second period but the Durham Thundercats were the better team on the night, doubling up over the Muskies 6- 3 in WOAA action at the CDRC Saturday night. The Bantam AA Flyers Magic School Bus toured to Ancaster on November 6 to face the Avalanche.
From the drop of the puck throughout the first period, the Flyers owned the ice despite the fact that Ancaster took the lead by one early.
The majority of the first period was played in the Ancaster end and after a tussel up in front of the Ancaster net John Hammond banged one in with Tyler Kent and Brandon Armstrong adding the assists.
The game remained tied at one until well into the third period when Jacob Copeland carried the puck deep into the Ancaster zone before passing out front to Derek Levielle who without hesitation found the back of the mesh for the go ahead goal .
All things considered throughout this game, the Flyers should have left this arena with the two points, however, with just a couple of minutes left in the game, Ancaster slid one by Flyers goalie Ryan Mantle to tie it up and Orangeville would settle for the tie.
This was the third meeting with this team all ending in a tie.
The Flyers found themmselves in Woolwich November 12th where they took home a hefty win as when they slammed the home team 5-1.
The Flyers dominated the game from the drop of the puck and Orangeville's goaltending by Shawn Courchesne was outstanding.
First period action saw only one goal scored and after a scramble in front of the net when John Hammond shoveled one in, with Brett Snell earning the assist.
In the second period Derek Leveille carried his pass from Breandan Madden into the Woolwich zone at lightning speed and blasted one by the netminder without hesitation.
Minutes later Michael Traves fired one in to widen the gap by 3, with the help of Snell.
Chalk full of confidence the Flyers came bounding out in the third to keeping full pressure on .
The fourth goal was scored by Madden on a point shot, with assistance from Traves and Snell who earned his third point of the night.
The final goal scored by Traves on a pass from John Dixon, as he drew out of the Woolwich goalie and snapped one in, leaving the goaltender dazed.
With just over half a minute left in the game Woolwich spoiled Courchesne's shut out on a slap shot that was deflected off a shoulder and into the net, to end the game 5-1.
