Tigers undefeated
The Atom B Tigers met their divisional rivals North York Storm on Nov.19 in Toronto.
After a 12 day lay-off, the Tigers started the game cautiously and soon found themselves down 1-0.
However the solid defense of Claire Anderson, Emily Cino, Claire Renouf and driven by Grace Whitfield patiently limited the Storm to peripheral chances until the offense could ignite.
The spark came in the second period, when Cidnee Sarginson led Lindsey Smith and Jamie Collis on a rush into the Storm zone. Sustained pressure and a flurry of shots from Collis and Smith resulted in a rebound that Sarginson buried in the open side of the net.
Following the goal, the team's confidence began to
rise with all three lines generating scoring opportunities.
The Tigers' attack intensified until Jamie Peterson broke down the right wing with 2:42 left in the period and scored, what proved to be the game-winning goal.
Fueled by determination and confidence, the Tigers shifted to high gear in the third period, when Mackenzie Coulter-Pittman dug the puck out of corner to Lindsey Smith who scored from in front of the of the net.
Peterson finished the game with an unassisted goal and solid goaltending by Isabelle Hunter denied further North York chances.
The Tigers are now 7-0 this season and must wait 3 weeks before their next regularly scheduled league game.
