Another exciting, busy week here at Branch 220. At our Special General Meeting on Thursday, Dec. 7, our building chair, Comrade Sue Emeny gave a complete and very informative report on our “Raise The Roof” Project.

We have worked towards a new roof for a couple of years now, and some 15 months ago began the process of applying for a Trillium Grant.

Work on the new roof will now begin as soon as the materials arrive. Some interior projects will also commence now that we know they won't be ruined by water damage. Thanks to everyone who assisted with the enormous amount of work.

Thanks to our community partners, all our volunteers and especially to the Ontario Trillium Foundation for the maximum grant of $75,000. Comrade Sue mentioned how appropriate that our first ever grant is in that amount, as we celebrate our 75th year in operation.

The Ladies' Auxiliary had a successful Craft/Bake Sale with lots of vendors, goodies and a Tea Room. The large, beautifully assembled food basket was won by our Bar Steward, Darlene Taylor, Congratulations.

On Sunday, Mr. & Mrs. Santa Claus circulated through the children at the Annual Kid's Christmas Party. About 48 children, along with their parents and/or grandparents enjoyed hot dogs, games, prizes, treats, ice cream and of course Santa, who gave each one a filled Christmas stocking. Unfortunately, the bouncy castle man didn't show up.

The second Early Bird Membership Draw was won by Comrade Wayne Flear. Congratulations.

Coming up on Friday the 15th, is our Christmas Meat Spin, beginning around 7 p.m. Come join us - the turkeys & hams are not guaranteed, but the fun and camaraderie certainly is.

Until next time, yours in comradeship.
