Access Fitness expanding to town’s west end

Responding to what they describe as a huge demand for services in Orangeville’s west end, Access Fitness owners Geoff and Faye Del Grande saw a huge opportunity to expand their business by taking over the Healthy Results Fitness Studio in the Alder Street Recreation Center.

Due to limited hours with personalized training, the owners of Healthy Results decided the facility was under-utilized and subleased the space to Access Fitness, which has been operating at 170 Lakeview Court in the east end since 2003.

Mr. Del Grande noticed a demand for fitness gyms in the west end and said this will allow Access Fitness to offer pool memberships to its members. Members can choose the option of using the pool at the recreation centre by adding to their current membership fees.

He said that as well, having a facility at the other end of town will be convenient to members living there, a factor that would increase membership usage and improve fitness results.

“They have been looking for space in the west end for some time following a market review and comments from their members,” wrote Sonya Pritchard, director of parks and recreation, in a letter to Orangeville council. “To meet the demand they are proposing to operate a fitness training studio that is a more traditional style gym facility, using a more self directed program model.”

Mr. Del Grande is predicting the west end facility will have a membership of about 400, a large increase in usage compared to 80 with Healthy Results.

The space will undergo minor renovations to make room for strength training equipment and Mr. Del Grande anticipates a Jan. 1 opening. For more information call 519-940-0300.
