I have lived in the Orangeville area for 20 years and am continually amazed by the repeated use of incorrect names for our main street. Broadway. It is just Broadway. Not Broadway Street, or Broadway Avenue or Broadway anything else. Yet in advertising in both of our papers and elsewhere (flyers, business cards, youname it) the name is often shown incorrectly with Street or Avenue.

While it may not be fair to expect residents or business owners to know the correct name (although one could just look at the street signs...) at least our newspapers could inform their advertisers and see that the name is correct when used in the paper.

The customer is always right? How about a simple and polite correction?

The inspiration for the name was Broadway in New York City, as other streets in that part of town were also named: from First Street to Fifth Avenue.

Have a look at the street signs next time you pass through town, and take pleasure in the thought that we have a little bit of the Big Apple right on our main street. Broadway!
