The Vantastic Slam
I trust that everyone had a Merry Christmas and are now busy getting ready for the New Year.
Before getting into this years recipient of the Slam of the Year award, I first would like to wish all the men and women, especially local ones who are involved with the Canadian forces.
To all of you thank you and have a great holiday season as well to their parents who I am sure miss them very much.
Normally I have a hard time deciding who to give the yearly Slam award to. I spend hours going over past articles and talking to folks around town getting feedback, so when you receive the award it is a great honour.
This year it is a no brainer, and I had no trouble selecting a winner. The 2006 Slam of the year goes to everyone involved in the "Beautification" project on Broadway. Truly a waste of time and money.
Perhaps my water usage bill could have been kept at par this coming year without building this silly thing.
My wish for 2007 is that t h e O r a n g e - ville mayor and c o u n c i l will be a little smarter with the town's finances than the last group.
AROUND THE RING... TNA star Konnan was supposed to undergo hip replacement surgery this week, but doctors had to stop when they noticed how bad a shape his kidneys are in. The surgery will be postponed until a later date... Marty Janetty has been let go by the WWE... Word is that Barry Windham will join the WWE as a producer/ coach... With the New Year approaching, expect a new batch of roster cuts in the WWE... Speaking of roster changes, Vince McMahon wants to break up the Hardy Boyz as well as MNM...Former Tough Enough 1 winner Maven is now hosting a show on the BET network... In the latest issue of the WWE magazine, they give Kurt Angle the "Good Riddance" award... Jim Cornette has been working with TNA with some of their segments within their show... Former Tyler Mane has been cast as Michael Myers in Rob Zombies remake of the classic horror movie "Halloween".
CRUSHERS CORNER... A tough weekend for the Provincial Jr A club running into the Christmas break. With losses to Seguin and Collingwood in back to back games, the Crushers find them selves back in the North division cellar behind those same Seguin Bruins. With only a little over a month to go before playoffs, the Crushers have to start putting together some consecutive wins if they hope to make the play-offs. On a positive note the team is starting to play much better and are keeping the shots down on their own end. Charlie Bartlett has been relieved of his duties as head coach.
The Crushers next home game is Saturday January 6th when the first placed Aurora Tigers roar into town at the Alder arena. Game time is 7:30pm. Aurora was recently named one of the top junior A teams in Canada.
I wish you all a prosperous New Year and please, if you drink , don't drive.Until next week, remember, I'm not just good, I'm VAN TASTIC!
