      In its effort to improve services locally, Headwaters Health Care Centre now offers, in partnership with Southlake Regional Health Centre, the best emergency heart care available. An agreement signed in the fall between the two hospitals began an innovative partnership that provides this community with access to a range of comprehensive services.

WDG Health unit warns of norovirus
      Wellington-Dufferin- Guelph Public Health says outbreaks of norovirus infection are being reported to the health unit. Symptoms often begin suddenly and may include watery diarrhea, vomiting, cramps, headache, fever, chills and sore throat.

Prank leads to Westside evacuation
      A prank that led to charges for a 17-year-old last Thursday had some students at Westside Secondary School making panicked telephone calls to parents, saying they were outside, freezing without their jackets, because of an evacuation and they weren't being allowed back inside.

Nature's Sunshine supports MADD Dufferin
      MADD Dufferin County Chapter recently wrapped up its annual Project Red Ribbon campaign for 2006. The Chapter was thrilled to be able to welcome Nature's Sunshine Products of Canada Ltd. as a sponsor of the local Project Red Ribbon. The new sponsor's own manager of operations, Connie Jefferson, is an active member of the local committee of MADD.

      ORANGEVILLE'S ONTARIO SPCA branch received a generous donation of $500 from Wal-Mart this week. The donation matches the amount of money the Branch volunteers collected in the Tag Day Campaign last July.

Arsenic traces in water may cost town $6M
      Shelburne is facing a major upgrade to its water wells due to expected changes in provincial standards under the Safe Water Drinking Act. On Monday, Shelburne Council was advised that because of trace amounts of naturally occurring arsenic in its wells, the town's water will no longer be in compliance with the Act, when and if the new standards are implemented.

Local stars in Canadian classic at Theatre Orangeville
      Theatre Orangeville's main stage will be home to The Drawer Boy from Thursday, Feb. 15 to Sunday, March 4. Local stars Jefferson Mappin, Booth Savage, along with Jeff Giles from Toronto will bring this poignant drama to life under the direction of Artistic Director David Nairn.

Award-winning novel pulled from school shelves
      Students at Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board schools who want to borrow the award-winning novel Snow Falling on Cedars from their school libraries will have to wait at least until the novel has been reviewed by a committee because the board received a complaint from a parent.

Meningitis C vaccine clinics set for schools
      Wellington-Dufferin- Guelph Public Health is offering Meningitis C vaccine clinics in high schools and to grade 7 students. The clinics will be held during February for high school students, and will start in March for Grade 7 students. Information will be sent home with students.

Mono now boasts its own version of ACC - Air Camilla Centre
