Royal Canadian Legion News
Branch 233 is pleased to announce that we are getting it on for our boys overseas. We are now officially enrolled in the Chosen Soldier Program.
This is an opportunity to support the morale of our troops in Afghanistan by providing them with some tangible comforts from home.
Alarge Blue Box has been placed in our lobby to accept food donations for our "chosen soldiers"and we invite all Branch 233 members to help us fill it. A list of acceptable food items is available from the Branch. On the social side, Wednesday Euchre and Thursday Dart Nights need some support.
All are welcome to come out and participate.
For members and their guests, we are preparing a Ham and Scalloped Potato Dinner for this Friday Members Night.
There is still time to get in our February 17th Interactive Show & Dinner at 6:30 pm. Tickets are $35.00 each, available at the Bar. In the evening, Howling Wolves will provide the Karaoke entertainment at 9 o'clock in the Lounge. Sunday is our monthly Legion Breakfast from 9 a.m. until 12 Noon.

Branch 220 held their annual Public Speaking Competition on Sunday, Feb. 11, 2007. Twenty-eight students from our area schools (Grand Valley & District Public, Centennial Hylands Elementary, Hyland Heights Elementary, Primrose Elementary) competed for first place positions.
The children did an excellent job in presenting their speeches, captivating a large audience of parents and judges.
First place winners in the Grade 1-3 category: Linnea MacCallum - Centennial Hylands, Grade 4-6 category: Peter Jorgensen - Hyland Heights; Grade 7-9 category: Brooke Leslie - Hyland Heights.
Congratulations to these students for an excellent performance. The winners will now move on to the Zone Public Speaking Competition to be held at Beeton on Feb. 25th.
Branch 220 wishes you Good Luck.
