Oilers hang on to beat Habs

The M&M Meats Oilers jumped out to an early lead when Mathew Sharpe notched the first goal assisted by Brandon Amos, just 19 seconds into the game.

Amos then scored one of his own assisted by Joshua Wilson and John Cummins to give the Oilers a 2 goal lead.

The McDonalds Canadiens answered with their only goal of period on an unassisted marker from Alexander Maycock.

The Oilers fired back with 2 goals, the first one by Sharpe from Cummins and the second on a great effort in front of the net by Artie Lafontaine unassisted.

The second period scoring was all done by the Canadiens, picking up a pair goals to narrow the margin to within one at 4-3 for the Oilers.

Scoring the Canadien goals were Maycock assisted by Ben Malo, and then Patrick Vaughan assisted by Hunter Randall.

The third period was action packed with back and forth battles that saw both goalies make some great saves and a couple of posts helping out too.

The Oilers opened the scoring on a goal by Amos assisted by Sharpe.

Then Malo assisted by John Viveiros and Zackery Miller scored for the Canadiens.

Sharpe scored his third of the game assisted by Connor Carson to restore the Oilers two goal lead with time winding down.

The Canadiens finished strong with a goal by Vaughan unassisted and kept most of the play in the Oilers end until the final buzzer.

Dallas Montgomery for the Habs and Alexander Bradley for the Oilers both played an exceptional game in net.
