Museum to host March Break crafts for kids

There'll be fun for all ages at the Dufferin County Museum and Archives next week during March Break.

A full week of activities offered mornings (10 to noon) and afternoon (2 to 4) sessions. Cost for each workshop is $8 per child and includes all supplies and materials required to make and complete each project. Minimum age required for all workshops, unless specified is 6 or older and adult assistance is recommended for children aged 6 to 10. Pre-registration is required for all workshops. There'll be a maximum of 10 participants for all workshops.

The workshops:

Monday a.m.: Learn to Loom - suitable for ages 6+ (Children 6-10 will need adult assistance). Instructor, Diane McKay.

Monday p.m.: Putty Pot/ Pot Assembly - Suitable for ages 6+ (Children 6-10 will need adult assistance). Assembly only, no gluing. Instructor, Diane McKay

Tuesday a.m.: Reversible Bookmarks - Suitable for ages 6+ (Children 6-10 will need adult assistance). Cross stitch embroidery on canvas with blunt end needles. Instructor, Doreen Riggin.

Tuesday p.m.: Holiday Fabric Balls & Wreaths - Suitable for ages 6+ (Children 6-10 will need adult assistance). All materials provided. Instructor, Doreen Riggin.

Wednesday a.m.: Pipe Cleaner Sculptures - Suitable for ages 6+ (Children 6- 10 will need adult assistance). Let your imagination be your guide as you create things using pipe cleaners and beads. Instructor, Chris Toogood

Wednesday p.m.: Sew a Fluffy Dog - Suitable for ages 10+. Knowledge of basic sewing useful, tacking and back-stitch. All materials supplied. Instructor, Alison Hird.

Thursday a.m.: Butterfly Mobiles - Suitable for ages 6+ (ages 6 - 10 will need adult assistance). Instructor, Linda McLaren.

Thursday p.m.: Quilling - Suitable for ages 6+ (Children 6-10 will need adult assistance). Create gift tags and bookmarks using simple quilling shapes. Instructor, Caroline Mach.

Friday a.m.: Calligraphy for Beginners - Suitable for ages 10+. No prior experience needed. A calligraphy marker pen will be loaned. Instructor, Alison Hird

Friday p.m.: Nature Crafts - Suitable for ages 6+ (Children 6-10 will need adult assistance). Instructor, Caroline Mach.

It's suggested that those planning to stay for the day should pre-register for both workshops, pack a lunch and use the opportunity to tour the Museum and see its new exhibit, "Wind & Warmth."

The museum is at Highway 89 and Airport Rd.
