Child ID clinic coming soon
Parents wanting to have their child's identification information contained in one place may want to attend the free Child ID Clinic coming up on March 13.
The clinic will be held at the Orangeville Mall from 4 to 8 p.m. It is being put on by the Lord Dufferin Chapter of the Imperial Order of the Daughters of the Empire (IODE) in collaboration with the Orangeville Police Services and the Orangeville Rotary Club.
Parents will be given a booklet to keep track of their child's hair, eye colour, height, weight and can place a recent school picture in every year. The booklet is meant to last for 19 years. The child's hands or feet prints, depending on their age, will be stamped in the book as well.
The booklets should be updated every fall, when children receive a school photo, said Nancy Carscadden, a member of the IODE.
"We're trying to do as many children in Orangeville as we can, to try and keep all kids safe," she said.
However, parents and children living in surrounding towns are also welcome to the clinic.
Ms. Carscadden noted it's important for parents to take the booklet with them when traveling because parents never know when they'll need it.
Generally the clinic is for new born babies up to 17- year-old children.
Ms. Carscadden said they can take the clinic into schools and nursery's as well if asked.
