It was a dog-gone great weekend for the Orangeville and District Kennel Club, as over 600 dogs and their owners descended on the Agriculture Centre for the annual dog show. The three days of shows marked the 59th, 60th and 61st confirmation show, beginning on Friday and wrapping up on Sunday. More ... A day later than originally planned and without having settled their District 10 title against CCVI, the ODSS Bears Girls hockey team kicked off a drive for a CWOSSA title with a win over Waterloo Collegiate on Wednesday morning. Having been forced to sit out the last week due to inclement weather, the Bears didn't take long to shake off the rust. More ... The Orangeville Wolves travelled to North York on the weekend for a game against the Gladiators and played quite well despite coming out on the short end of a 10-8 score against a much older North York team. Ten teams representing five divisions from Under 8 through to the Under 15/117 division battled it out for championship honours after earning the right to challenge for the title in two days of round robin playoff action. After dropping game one Friday night, Orangeville put in a solid game Saturday, even their series at one each before heading down to Tecumseh for game three on Sunday afternoon. More ... Skaters from the DUFFERIN-PEEL SKATING CLUB competed at the 2007 STARSkate CHAMPIONSHIPS in Brampton, February 16th to the 18th, bringing home a total of 4 gold medals, 1 silver and 1 bronze, along with 2 trophies. Pictured here from left to right are; Leighanne Neilson and Aaron McCullagh, 1st in the Senior Silver Dance. The McDonalds Oilers and the Mullin, Twaites and Ward Senators traded goals in the first period and then the Oilers scored to take a 2- 1 lead into the third. The Senators tied it up in the first shift of the final period before McDonalds scored with 7:00 left to take the lead and added an insurance goal with 1:33 left. More ...
