Solid effort from Wolves
The Orangeville Wolves travelled to North York on the weekend for a game against the Gladiators and played quite well despite coming out on the short end of a 10-8 score against a much older North York team.
Timothy Zwicker opened the scoring for Orangeville on this one on a nice solo dash from inside the Orangeville end.
Zwicker put a nice deke on the Gladiator tender before shoveling the puck into the short side.
John Smith picked up the next Wolves goal to close out the scoring in the first period with smooth skating Adam Graves picking up the helper on the goal.
The Wolves hard working Dougie Myers got the team back to within one on a hard wrist shot to the top shelf that rattled the water bottle.
Myers was set up after some nice spade work by Justin Day and Jason Armstrong.
Zwicker then picked up his second of the game cashing in a rebound from the ever improving Travis Hyatt.
Wolves rookie Kelly Hu Dong picked up the second helper.
Wolves vet Drew Irwin then scored a goal of his own after spending most of the game trying to set up his team mates.
Michael McCreary who played a particularly strong game set up Irwin with Alfie Brown picking up the second helper.
Orangeville took to the ice still down a goal in the third period but the energetic Adam Thompson brought them back to even on a nice
shot from the slot with Noah Brown and Irwin picking up the assists.
Peter Cassibo then scored on a nice rush up the middle to give the Wolves a short lived lead.
Zwicker and the hard working Jonathon McLeod picked up the assists. Thompson then closed out the scoring for the Wolves with Irwin and Noah Brown picking up the assists.
The ever improving Adam Brown played a strong game for the Wolves between the pipes. Brown showed off some Brodeuresque style puck handling ability.
