Ned Maodus, a former Mono resident and member of the disgraced senior Toronto drug squad, was arrested Monday night in Windsor on charges of assault, assault with a weapon, and uttering death threats.

Meantime, he is to appear in an Orangeville court next month on similar charges arising from an investigation at his former Mono home.

CBC , describing it as "the seventh time Maodus has been arrested in the past six years," quoted Windsor police as saying that "a woman who identified herself as Maodus's girlfriend went to a police station and alleged she had been beaten."

The current Windsor charges are similar to ones Mr. Maodus is still facing in Mono, where is alleged to have assaulted and sexually assaulted an unidentified female.

Because of those charges, Maodus is forbidden to be in Dufferin except to appear in court. He has been living with his parents in Windsor, who acted as sureties for his bail. At one point in the proceedings, the Mono charges were stayed. The stay of proceedings was appealed, overturned, and are scheduled to be tried here is Orangeville beginning April 2.

Maodus is still facing other drug-related charged in Dufferin County, but those were laid by Toronto Police Services acting on information from Dufferin OPP, who had been to his home to investigate the assault allegations.

Last June, Maodus was charged by Toronto police after he allegedly offered an undercover female officer money for sexual favours.

He is among six senior drug-squad officers in Toronto ordered last summer by Ontario Court Justice James Blacklock to stand trial on charges dating back to almost six years ago, alleging criminal activity in connection with his police duties there.
