Bullying awareness website launched

2007-04-19 / Local News

In response to a number of personal attacks, two young students have launched a website to draw attention to the issues of peer-to-peer bullying.

The website, "Bullying Kids Speak Up," provides information on bullying and offers a space for young people to share their own personal experiences with bullying and victimization.

"We have been there and know the pain associated with bullying", said 17-year- old Robbie Frenette, one of the site creators. "We also know that bullying can be a solitary issue with many victims unable, for fear of reprisal, to speak out, and that is why we need a place for victims and targets of bullying to share information and to seek out solutions."

The website, www. bullyingkidsspeakup. ca, includes a list of resources for young people and creates a venue for them, their parents and professionals to hear personal accounts of the horror stories associated with bullying and more important learn methods of dealing with these situations.
