Local blood volunteers praised by agency

2007-04-19 / Local News

Canadian Blood Services has thanked central Ontario regional volunteers who have been giving their time inside and outside blood donor clinics to save the lives of Canadians.

Noting that the volunteers are instrumental in helping meet hospital and patient needs across the country and at home, the agency said the Rotary Club in Shelburne "is a wonderful example of the volunteers helping at their local blood donor clinic. Their outstanding talents are Canadian Blood Services' valuable assets, helping to save thousands of lives every year."

The agency said in a press release that the volunteers are vital to creating a positive experience for the donor and encouraging all donors to continue donating now and into the future. "Their help is crucial to the ongoing success of local clinics."

If you would like to make an appointment to donate, find information about local clinics or your eligibility to donate, or are interested in volunteering in your community, call 1 888 2- DONATE (236-6283). The next local blood donor clinic will be held next Tuesday, April 24, from 4:30 to 8:00 p.m. at the CDRC.
