Congratulations in order

2007-04-19 / Mailbox

The Citizen Mailbox of April 5th tells us about hunting in Mon Twp. and more about the dreadful accident to Ms Marianne Schmid.

Understandably, friends and neighbours are concerned: Ms Proudfoot writes that she attended a Course run by Dufferin-Peel Anglers and Hunters Association - such a course is mandatory, and courses are excellent. A course is required before obtaining a licence. Ms Proudfoot talks about a hunting problem in ruralresidential areas and finds it unfortunate (in her words) that Mono Township officers have decided not to introduce any more bylaws against hunting. They should be congratulated!

Many of us have chosen to locate here, far earlier than Ms Proudfoot, because of an interest and the last thing we want is a control of hunting where it is legitimate, even tho' Caledon Township thinks such measures are necessary.

Many of us do much more conservation than hunting. We should realize that controls of this sort lead to all kinds of control, of traditional activity, and fishing and riding will soon be regulated more.
