Weekend split starts Northmen B season
      Not quite the start they had planned, but for the MacMaster Pontiac Buick GMC Northmen Junior B lacrosse team, their 2007 campaign is officially underway with one win and one loss over the past weekend. Friday night the team got things rolling on the road doubling up over the Six Nations Arrows.

LEARNING CURVE.
      For the ODSS rugby teams, the start of their 2007 season might be one they wanted to forget. Playing at home to Centre Wellington on Tuesday afternoon, all three Bears squads, girls as well as the boys senior and junior counterparts, had more than their share of difficulty handling Falcons, being shut out 17-0, 29-0 and 50-0 respectively.

Dubinsky named ACAA all-star
      For the second year in a row, Shelburne native Julia Dubinsky has been named to a spot on the Atlantic Colleges Athletic Association conference volleyball all-star second team. Dubinsky, a five foot-seven power hitter with Mount Allison, played a large role in guiding the Mounties to a 19- 6 record in ACAA regular season play for an overall second place conference ranking.

Athletic in playoffs
      Orangeville Athletic indoor soccer team wrapped up the regular season in style this past Sunday afternoon with a win over the Azores Strikers. Lead by a three goal performance from Kenny Weijers, a pair from Dave Howie and a single from Tyler Robbins, Orangeville dominated their opposition in their final regular season game to win 6-2.

      MEMBERS OF SKATE CANADA Orangeville continue to see action on the ice in competitions across Ontario. On the weekend of April 14/15, a group of 20 local skaters made the trek to Sudbury where collected a total of 18 medals for their efforts.

      The Rayburn Construction Junior A Northmen are one step closer to their regular season after defeating Burlington 9-6 in exhibition play on Saturday night.

Wolves road-trip to Arlington, successful
      After being seen off at the Alder Street arena by Orangeville Mayor Rob Adams and Sylvia Jones on behalf of MPP John Tory, the Orangeville Wolves boarded a bus to Arlington, Virginia for the 16th annual Special Hockey International tournament.
