The Vantastic Slam
The snow has all but melted, the birds are singing in the mornings and the sweet smell of cow manure drifts through the afternoon breeze of Dufferin County.
Yes folks, it is almost Outlaw football time in Orangeville, and while the Pee Wee and Junior Varsity teams have already been working out with indoor training, t h e y o u n g e r Outlaws in which I am a coach, recently had their grading day at ACTS.
Soon we will be out on the fields starting to work out and get ready for the 2007 season.
I look forward to seeing all the returning faces again as well as seeing the new recruits.
If you are still interested in playing football this year I am sure we can still find room for another eager Outlaw.

Speaking of spring sports, lacrosse is starting as we speak, and this year I have joined the Orangeville Jr B Northman as the announcer for their home games this season.
I look forward to working with the club and my old partner in the timekeepers bench from the Crusher games, Rob.
I have spoken to many people lately about the announcement of the tax hike Orangeville residents will be slapped with this year.
I will withhold my thoughts on the issue until I learn more behind the reasoning, but at first glance, I am with the masses on this one and am not too keen on the idea.
With that said, I am disappointed in the decision of reducing the garbage bag limit to one bag per household.
Anyone with a large family like myself will understand the difficulty there is in only having one bag of garbage, and that is with over two recycling bins a week already.
I understand the need to reduce waste, but cutting the limit to one bag per week seems a little silly.
And I thought this new town council was going to be more on the ball than the old guard.
AROUND THE RING... The WWE had their largest pay per view of the year this past Sunday night, and as always they put on a great show, with the highlight of the evening being the owner of the company Vince McMahon getting his head shaved.
In other wrestling news, expect to see a fatal four way match at the backlash pay per view with Edge, Randy Orton, John Cena and HBK... Apparently the original plans for the Batista/Undertaker match was to have Batista end the Taker's undefeated streak at Mania... Too Cold Scorpio debuted this week in Ohio Valley Wrestling... Joey Mercury has been released from the WWE for failing the company's wellness program. Word is that Mercury was having trouble with a painkiller addiction... Speaking of releases, Andrew Martin's name has been bouncing around the TNA dressing room for a possible signing... Mick Foley has expressed interest in the GM job on Raw... Cryme Tyme's push appears to be over... There are strong rumours that Chris Benoit will be switched over to the RAW brand soon... Next years Wrestlemania will take place in Orlando, Florida... And, Jeff Jarrett is still the head of creative in TNA, while Vince Russo and Dutch Mantel do the majority of the writing for the weekly television broadcasts, with Jarrett having the final say.
That's all for this week. Please send all comments and complaints to MIKEVANTA S T I C @ H O T - MAIL.COM.
Until next week remember, I'm not just good, I'm VAN TASTIC!
