One woman died and two others were hospitalized in a single-vehicle accident north of Alton Saturday night.

The driver, Miranda Coish, 21, was pronounced dead at the scene. Two passengers, Taryn Henry, 21, of East Garafraxa and Bradley Shell, 21, of Orangeville were taken to Headwaters Health Care Centre and then sent to Sunnybrook Medical Centre for further treatment.

Their Hyundai was travelling southbound on Main Street, north of Highpoint Sideroad, at around 8:30 p.m. Saturday when the vehicle left the roadway.

Police closed the road for about six hours to investigate the accident.

Ms. Coish is a former student at Westside Secondary School, where flags were lowered to half-staff on Wednesday.

The conditions of Ms. Henry and Mr. Shell were unavailable at press time.

The family of Ms. Coish received friends at Dods & McNair Funeral Home for funeral services Thursday at 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers the family is asking for donations for the Dufferin/Caledon Victims Services or the Children's Miracle Network.
