OPP to target speeding bikes

2007-05-03 / Local News

Dufferin OPP have announced plans to combat motorcyclists' excessive speeds on Hockley Valley Road, Mono Centre Road and Airport Road with dedicated radar patrols utilizing unmarked police cruisers.

Also of concern are modified loud mufflers that disturb residents and cause complaints to police. Improper mufflers and unnecessary noise violations carry a total fine of $110 plus the possibility of a mandatory vehicle inspection.

License plates must be attached and displayed to the very rear of a motorcycle.

Plates mounted inside the rear tire tunnel or on the side of the sub-frame are illegal and subject to a total payable fine of $110.

In a news release, OPP Const. Al Buck observed that the majority of motorcycle operators "are mature, responsible, and defensiveminded users of our roadways. Please join the majority and safely enjoy the riding season."
