On Tuesdays I read to the young sons of a large Christian family in Eramosa: one of the books we read is a compilation from the book of Psalms. Recently one of the virtues we read about was "Diligence." The Psalmist recorded that diligence in one's governing and civic duties was pleasing to God. More ... The decision by the County's committee that dealt with garbage to recommend to the entire County Council that they should not pursue their plans to build a gasification facility on the site of the county owned dump is disappointing to say the least. More ... I read with much interest Paula Conning's article on why there should be no Catholic funding by the government. She makes some valid arguments. I did however find one big contradiction: She proudly quotes the 1999 United Nation's charter that calls for ALL religions to be funded or none at all. That is ridiculous. Who could pay for such an endeaveor? More ... |
