Removing Catholic Education said just plain wrong
I read with much interest Paula Conning's article on why there should be no Catholic funding by the government. She makes some valid arguments. I did however find one big contradiction:
She proudly quotes the 1999 United Nation's charter that calls for ALL religions to be funded or none at all. That is ridiculous. Who could pay for such an endeaveor? Canada can barely pay for its own healthcare. Our soldiers have obsolete weapons, our poor lay in the streets and line up in the food shelters. She forgot to mention that the same United Nations has also declared that under the 1948 Universal Declaration of Human Rights they stated that," Parents have a prior right to choose the kind of education that shall be given to their children."
Interesting.
I think the "one school system" people have a different purpose that really is behind their move to 'unite' the school systems.
Simply put, religion is an important and integral thing to pass on to our children. It should not be only for those who can afford a private Christian school. It should be made available to all for no-extra charge for those that seek it.
I urge all Christians (any denominations, not just Catholic) to fight for the right to have at least one school system that is allowed to teach Judeo-Christian values.
All Catholic families can have their property tax form show they support the Catholic school system.
Please do so.
