2007-05-31 / Local News

Last Friday, May 25, at about 4 p.m., Dufferin OPP officers responded to a report of a gun being seen on a school bus, a student having notified the driver of the bus that a gun had been seen.

The driver pulled over in the area of Highway 10 and (Primrose) and notified the supervisor who in turn notified police.

Four Dufferin OPP cruisers and two Shelburne Police Service cruisers attended the scene. Upon police arriving it was determined that the gun was actually a plastic toy gun. The student who possessed the gun was identified and the information given to the student's school for their action.

OPP communications officer Al Buck said parents should ensure that their children refrain from taking weapons or imitations of weapons to school.
