A FOUR-CAR ACCIDENT had one lane block for motorists travelling north on Highway 10, near the Monora Park entrance Thursday afternoon for a short period of time. A green Volkswagen was stopped to make a left turn and was hit from behind by a red Buick that had managed to stop but was hit by a silver Toyota. A pick-up truck was also involved in the accident. Below, several persons were injured Monday morning as the result of the latest in a long series of rear-end collisions on Highway 10 north of Orangeville, where the highway lacks either a centre turning lane or signage warning drivers that between the First Street and Hockley Road intersections all four lanes are used for turning as well as for through traffic. An OPP officer who investigated the crash said that when the roadway was widened about 20 years ago, the Ministry of Transportation rejected the Dufferin detachment's recommendation that the design include a fifth lane for left-turning traffic.
