TO to stage Alice in Wonderland

2007-08-09 / Local News

Theatre Orangeville's acclaimed Young Company is currently in rehearsals for their performance of Alice in Wonderland.

Under the Direction of Aislinn Rose, the 23 cast members have been hard at work staging this Lewis Carroll classic that has been adapted for stage by Eva Le Gallienne and Florida Friebus.

This version of Alice combines the stories of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Alice Through the Looking Glass and sees Alice trying to understand the nonsense and wild characters that make up Wonderland.

Aislinn Rose brings her incredible background and imagination to this work, stretching the acting talents of the young actors, using mask-work and Physical Theatre techniques to create a unique and exciting show for the audience.

It is a perfect circle for Rose, who was a founding member of Theatre Orangeville's Young Company in 1994 when they performed Murmel Murmel Mortimer Munsch and Live! Since then Aislinn has added a steady string of acting, directing and producing credits to her accomplishments.

She has recently returned from Australia where she completed her MFA in Performance Studies and studied physical Theatre with Zen Zen Zo, Theatre Activ8! and Vulcana Women's Circus. Aislinn is now home in Orangeville, and integrating all she has learned into this year's Young Company.

This fun-filled frolic is a great opportunity to bring out the whole family and see the incredible talent that Orangeville holds!
